Colgate was founded in 1806 by William&Middleton; Colgate registered a company under its own name and started its business by producing toothpaste. In 1890, Colgate expanded its global business beyond the United States. In 1953, after merging with Palmolive Company, the company officially adopted the name Colgate-Palmolive. Now, after nearly 200 years of ups and downs, its personal care products have been sold to more than 200 countries and regions around the world, becoming a global consumer goods company with sales of $9.4 billion.
